Installing Orca on Your Shopify Store

Installing Orca takes a few minutes. This article covers finding the app, approving its permissions, and completing the initial setup.

Step 1: Install from the Shopify App Store

Go to the Shopify App Store and search for Orca. Open the listing titled Orca: AI-powered OMS, published by Retailogists, and click Install. A free plan is available, so you can install and explore Orca before activating a subscription.

Step 2: Review and approve permissions

Before installation, Shopify shows the access Orca requires. Orca requests permission to view customer data, view staff and contributor data, and view and edit store data, including customers, products, and orders. Orca needs this access to read your orders and inventory and to manage fulfillments on your behalf. Click Install to approve and continue.

Step 3: Complete the setup checklist

After installation, Orca opens on its Home page with a setup checklist. Work through the items in order:

1. Set Up Billing. Activate a subscription plan. This is required before Orca can start routing orders.
2. Sync Your Store Data. Import your Shopify locations, products, and inventory levels into Orca. Routing cannot begin until this sync has run.
3. Set Up Locations. Configure each location's type, transfer enablement, and fulfillment settings.
4. Create a Routing Rule. Set up at least one rule to tell Orca how to assign orders to locations.
5. Enable Orca Actions. Turn on automated order routing in Settings so Orca can start managing fulfillment.

When every item is complete, Orca confirms that your OMS is fully configured and ready to route orders.

Step 4: Your dashboard

The dashboard shows your key metrics, including total orders, orders currently transferring, and fulfilled orders, along with a view of orders by journey stage. If you have not yet activated a plan, a Subscription Required banner appears here until billing is set up.
